Legislative Affairs

The Wyoming Airports Coalition Legislative Affairs Committee consists of industry leaders from across the State of Wyoming who are passionate about advocating on behalf of the Coalition's members on state and federal legislative issues. Focusing on a foundation built on relationships and education, the Committee works with state and federal leaders to ensure that robust and appropriate transportation funding and reduced regulatory burdens are front and center. Key legislative priorities include:

  • Robust and Appropriate Transportation Infrastructure Funding

  • Long-term reliable commercial air service across Wyoming

  • Robust aviation career technical education (CTE) programming across Wyoming

Current Focus Areas

  • Protecting airport development opportunities and avoiding a tax spiral as a result of the October 2024 Wyoming Supreme Court Ruling regarding governmental use property tax exemptions.

  • Robust and flexible funding for transportation infrastructure in WY

  • Ensuring that legislative efforts to improve CTE programs across Wyoming include aviation programming and eligibility. 

  • Advocating for unique energy generation opportunities including regulatory relief to ensure airports are able to meet ever increasing electrical demands.

  • Timely approval of Congressional appropriation bills ensuring robust FAA and DHS funding.

  • Timely and accurate FAA implementation of 2024 FAA Reauthorization Bill

  • Congressional airport PFAS liability protections.
